Best Answer:Hi, The primary purpose of these cross-members is to form a rigid structure with the frame rail where forces and loads can be transferred from one frame rail to another so that the frame components work together as a system. Based on your description could be the subframe but, not 100 percent sure since I do not have the vehicle information to work on. We highly recommend having the vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic to determine what part needs replacement.
