Front Z23 Daily Carbon-Fiber Ceramic Brake Pads With Stainless-Steel Hardware Kit
Beware -- Jeep Cherokee with dual piston front calipers requires Z23-1843, not Z23-1640A
Before ordering these Z23 Series pads on the Car Parts website, I entered my vehicle specifications as a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 6 Cyl 3.2 L. But there's no way to specify dual piston calipers (the heavy duty type supplied with the 4WD option) and I overlooked the "RPO Code" fine print in the description. Since the Z23-1640A is described as suitable for "All Submodels All Engines" and has the big green "Guaranteed to Fit" checkmark, I added those to the cart along with a a pair of Centric rotors and the shipment arrived within three days. Unfortunately, after I had removed the left caliper, I discovered those pads were too small and had to put everything back together, request an RMA, and order the correct pads for dual piston fronts, which are Z23-1843. By the way, Power Stop's site does include the ability to specify dual piston, but doesn't provide any information on the Z23 series -- it only lists Z16, Z17, and Z36. Everything went well the second time around; I followed the recommended break-in procedure and noticed a big improvement in performance over the old pads and rotors. A small packet of silicone-based grease is included, but you may want to put more than that on the pins once you clean out the dirty stuff.
