If your Honda CRV hood won't open, you can typically force it open by pressing and holding down on the hood near the latch while someone else pulls and holds the hood release lever. Then, the person holding the hood down can pull up on the hood to open it. Make sure to lubricate the mechanism using a penetrating lubricant such as WD40.
