Are these stainless steel, with just a chrome look finish?  Wondering whether rust resistant.M P.Jun 29, 2021
Best Answer:Hi M, I'm glad to help you out. This is made of steel, not stainless steel. You can buy some rust-resistant or rust protector sprays and apply them to the part before installing. After the truck has been placed in a secure safe position I would suggest that you get either a floor jack or two helpers to start . It's not because the bar is heavy but it is a lot easier and safer for all concerned. I would suggest that you remove the entire bar assy. Because it is easier to work when it's on a work bench area. Remove the 4 vertical bolts in the frame rail areas and then the 6 horizontal nuts and stud plates . Disconnect all the wiring for the sonar system and license plate lens . The rear bar can now be removed and placed on the work area. The bar end is attached with steel rivets . You need to remove the bumper cladding by going on the inside of the bar and depress the attachment points and push back thru the bar. This will uncover the rivets that attach the bar end to the upper support bar. You have to either drill out or use cut off tool to remove rivets. After you have the rivets removed make sure the rest of the bar assembly is square and straight. If all is good then it's time to reassemble. GM says you should bolt the bar back on. Test fit the bar to the support bar by attaching the bolts but don't tighten. After all alignment checks are made tighten the bolts and then replace the bumper cladding . Suggestion is to use soap and water solutions to ease the cladding attachments back into place . After this is all done it time to hang the bar . Either with the jack or friends hang the bar into the receivers and install all the bolts and nuts loosely . Align the bumper end to end and bumper top to pickup box and then tighten. Reattach the sonar and license plate wiring and check to see if they work correctly. Total time with air tools and floor jack is about 2 hrs off and on. Level of experience for this job is slightly above beginner if all equipment is available. Products fit and finish is very good .
