I purchased 4 of these to replace the originals on my 2002 F350 which I bought new. Installation was not difficult, just need to take your time. They've been installed now for 6 months so I've had plenty of time to assess them.
The Negatives: They work, BUT NOT AS WELL as the factory sensors. The factory sensors started picking up objects about 7-8 feet in back of the truck. The replacements don't have the range and as such, don't pick up objects until I'm within 3 feet of them. Also, the "spread" vertically and horizontally is less. Examples: OEM would pick up a curb 7-8 feet back, the replacements don't pick up objects that low until I'm literally on top of them. Horizontally, the OEM units would pick up objects that were 1 to 2 feet outside the width of the truck. Replacements don't. The replacement units don't pick up narrow objects. Example, bollards (those 6 inch steel pipes filled with concrete). The OEM units never had a problem detecting them. And lastly, the OEM units started beeping faster further out from the object being detected. With the replacement units I'm right on top of the object when the beeping starts to speed up so there's less time to react. I validated all this by doing multiple tests with different size targets in different locations to see if what I was experiencing (based on driving this truck for 18 years) was indeed what was happening.
There's no way to know if the replacements are defective and whether another set would perform better, but as far as mine go they don't work as well as the originals. The first time I used them was an eye opener. I backed into where I park my truck at home and almost hit the fence. Since I was used to my original units, when the new ones started sounding off, I assumed I still had 7 to 8 feet before I got to the fence. I caught it just in time.
