Tips on installing and adjusting these arms
I am pleasantly surprised how well made, with quality machining and hardware, and engineered these arms are.The hardware in the adjuster mechanism is high quality but It is hard to get to the adjustment nut when installed. Instructions on how to use the adjustment would be nice, It was rather frustrating without. So, here goes. 1. before installing the arms, unscrew the larger (right hand thread) adjuster nut/sleeve about 1/4 inch away from the arm.(use anti-seize on inside and outside threads) 2.Tighten the pinch bolt to hold the adjuster nut/sleeve Make sure the hex socket bolt head is installed opposite the shock absorber,.for access. (See note #2) 3. Loosen slightly the jamb nut (left hand thread) 4. Unscrew the (left hand thread) threaded rod/bushing assembly so about 1/4 inch of thread shows. 5. Install the arm on the vehicle.(See note #3) Tighten the chassis bolts with the road springs compressed as close to normal ride height as possible. To adjust: 1. Loosen the pinch bolt. Note #4 An 8 inch long ball-end 7 mm hex socket makes this easy/possible. 2, Turn the adjuster nut/sleeve counter clockwise to lengthen the arm and move the top of the wheel outward, increasing positive camber, until the correct camber is achieved. (the reason you bought these arms, right). To tighten: 1. Tighten the pinch bolt (good and tight) to hold the camber adjuster nut/sleeve, (before you) 2. Tighten the (left hand thread) jamb nut against the adjuster to remove the play in the threads. Note #1 If you try to put a giant 1 1/4 inch wrench on the adjuster sleeve while tightening the 1 1/16 inch jamb nut with another giant wrench in the confines of the suspension you will be very frustrated and will likely bugger one or both nuts in the process. (not the fault of the nuts) Note #2 it is nearly impossible to tighten the hex socket-head pinch bolt when installed on the car, since the nut spins freely on the back with no hope of holding it with a tiny wrench. The arm is machined to retain the nut, but the nut is made with rounded faces. I ground one face of the nut flat so that it would catch on the machined recess an not spin when tightening. Note #3 Be aware,On my 2009 Mazda 5 the drivers side inner control arm bolt can not be completely removed with the welded on chassis muffler hanger bracket in the way. (Mazda engineering fault, not these arms) Dropping the rear sub-fame about 1/2 inch allows the bolt to back all the way out. A PITA but not the end of the world, Just loosen, not remove, 6 big bolts and one end of the shock absorber.
