I was going through about a quart of oil every two tanks of gas. After opening up the valve covers (which requires removing most of the top end of the motor) I found that the valve stem seals that were there (I don't know if they were original equipment or not, the valve covers had clearly been off before) were the umbrella type--made of rubber and although didn't appear damaged, obviously leaked down into the cylinders. These valve stem seals slide over the valve shaft and create an excellent seal. I have not had to add any oil since installing these seals. Excellent product that will pay for itself in time. Highly recommended for any 4.0L OHV Explorer that goes through a lot of oil (and not burning it--ring problems).
