Is this part coded?Travis M.Jan 25, 2021
Best Answer:Hi Travis, Here is the link for the install instructions from our supplier's online catalog. Please click the link below to see it. <a href="https://ecatalog.smpcorp.com/STD/#/vehicles/parts/num/US-285L?type=s" target="_blank">https://ecatalog.smpcorp.com/STD/#/vehicles/parts/num/US-285L?type=s</a> (click the video link to see the install steps) <a href="https://eaccess.smpcorp.com/eCatalogs/Downloads/EMD/GF10250B.pdf" target="_blank">https://eaccess.smpcorp.com/eCatalogs/Downloads/EMD/GF10250B.pdf</a> (PDF install procedure) Some excerpts; YOU NEED TO OBTAIN “SKIM/SKIS” BLANKS FROM EITHER A LOCKSMITH OR A DEALER! WE DO NOT PROVIDE THEM! Using the key shipped with the lock as a template, cut the “teeth” onto the new “SKIM/SKIS” blank so it will be able to operate the cylinder. The key must then be electronically coded to your vehicle. 1. This can be done by a technician with the proper tooling to access the vehicle’s systems. Check with the tool manufacturer to see if the tool you are using supports this function! 2. Some key providers have the ability to “clone” the code from your original key onto a new blank. Check with the key blank seller/locksmith to see if they have this ability.
