2000 Dodge Intrepid - Front hood struts change out It took 10 minutes to read instructions and 5 minutes to install. The new ones were a little different that OE. Probably better. I did the deck lid (trunk) 5 years ago. That was easy too. When I began to shut the hood, one strut did not move and I thought I was going to bend the hood... but I gently moved the hood up and down and the strut began to move smoothly. Don't wait until the old struts fail to keep the hood open... it fell on my fingers and almost broke them... and so I immediately ordered thems new ones last Sunday and they arrived Friday.
