Dorman 604-007 HVAC Heater Blend Door Actuator
this review is not about car parts, this is about the Dorman heater blend door (mode door). read some reviews from other sites, but when it's January out in Chicago you need a defroster. I bought it from car parts because of the price ($83), it sells for about $110 from local auto parts stores and you still have to wait for it, it's not a shelf item. After installing, the motor was loud when you changed the mode setting, because it was cold out , I wasn't going to take it apart again and return it. So needless to say 16 months later, I need to change it out again because it stopped working, the good thing it's not January yet. I think these blend doors are little bit over priced and the quality was not good at all. Even though the price went down on car parts from last year for this part, $83 to $76, I did find one on another site for $25 with shipping. They always say you get what you pay for, but when its the same part number, I went with it and saved myself $58. We'll see how long this one lasts (I'm sure its the Dorman) because of the part number, it didn't have a name on it. I work in an industry were the company makes the same product for multiple retail company's, like a lot of things out there, we'll just have to see. The bad thing about replacing the part, you have to take almost the hole bottom of the dash about and the center counsel, at lest this time it's not after shoulder surgery.
