How do I recognize if I need left or right side head and gasket asst? Looking in front of my van, I see the front side head that I need and the back side head closer to the firewall.Jay BMar 12, 2021
Best Answer:Hi Jay,
If you run a diagnostic reader, the bank 1 is where the number 1 cylinder is located and bank 2 is the opposite set of cylinders (2, 4, 6 and 8). This depends on the orientation of the engine esp if you have V6 or V8 engine. This one is for the right side cylinder head gasket (Bank 2). The passenger side is the firewall side bank 2. Bank 1 is driver side location. Still, the best way to see is if you have a vehicle specific repair service manual that you can borrow or acquire from a shop or a friend.
