Thermostat
300M 3.5 liter Thermostat
A thermostat is a thermostat and Stant has been an industry standard for decades. The problem with this install is the access. The thermostat on the 3.5L is on the drivers side, forward and on the side and down low on the block and to top it all off, it points slightly downward. It is also blocked by hoses and front suspension components. A lousy engine design for this job. Holding the thermostat in place (again, pointing about 30 degrees downward) while getting the gasket and housing into place and tightening the two small bolts is a job that will test your patience and will. It works best if you remove the coolant overflow tank, the alternator and the tire. And before you can do that there is a bunch of interference to remove. Also, having a friend with thin fingers may help. If you can afford it, I recommend letting a garage do this one. Let the mechanic swear, etc. It will cost you about $400 including a system flush but save you the aggrevation. If you tackle it yourself, don't forget to vent the system through the bleed valve. Good Luck.
