They are secured to the frame of the truck using their own mounting brackets which are shown in the picture. They are mounted to the frame of a truck which is more secure. nice bars good buy
Gave installation a low rating because, there is a long bracket for the front & a short bracket for the back but the instructions had them reversed,causing a lot of unnecessary on and off. However Once i got them on correctly they look & function grate.
