Customer Reviews

Reman Series Window Motor, Remanufactured
Very satisfied given the vehicle
Left rear 1992 Suburban power window motor R&R: Installing the window motor with the regulator is extremely labor intensive, requiring removing many rivets and having a triple-jointed left wrist with 9-inch fingers. I chose the rebuilt motor without the regulator. To install it, remove the door trim panel and cut three small holes in the door sheet metal to reveal the three rivets holding the motor to the regulator. You can locate these by holding the new unit over the old one. Then drill and grind out the 3 rivet heads holding the motor to the regulator. Remove the motor and rivets from the regulator. Grind the heads of two 1.5" long .25" grade 5 or 8 bolts down to about 1/16 thick and install those in the mounting bolt holes whose heads are covered by the regulator. This requires moving the window up and down and talking severely to the bolts. Install the new motor onto those two bolts and add a third of the same size (unmodified) to the unencumbered third mounting ear. Secure all three bolts with star-type lock washers and nuts of the same grade as the bolts. Button everything back up. The door trim is secured by little crummy nylon posts that can be turned to release them from the dogs on the trim panel so don't do as I did and muscle the trim off by prybar. It also is handy to verify current to the motor before you replace it, but I'd already been through that a while back. Good luck. The GM door was designed for assembly convenience, and the design has nothing at all to do with replacement convenience. If you don't have a grinder, a Dremel, gutsy drill, sheet metal nibbler, and a 30 lb can of patience, just take the truck to the local window shop and throw money at it.
