Would I have to get a key programmed if I changed ignition switch on a 1997 Camaro 3.4 liter v6?BrianOct 09, 2022
Best Answer:Hi Brian, thank you for reaching out. Not if you will still use the same ignition lock cylinder. The ignition switch is different from the ignition lock cylinder. A new PASSkey© type key is required and is not included with this lock cylinder. It may be obtained at any automotive locksmith or GM vehicle dealership. You can use this link to go back to the item page and continue ordering the part at 57% off the regular price today: https://www.carparts.com/ignition-lock-cylinder/replacement/repc503913?can=CPAP3648_CSQA_20221010 I hope this helps. Hi, I just bought a 91 camaro rs and I wont start. Originally it had chipped key and the guy replaced the key cylinder with a none chipped key cylinder. The car ran prior to me dropping the steering column to adjust the high/low beam switch. I have tested the ignition switch and the clutch pedal switch/button and they both work. I also replaced the starter relay. When I go to start the car the security light comes on in the dash. Is there something I'm missing? PLEASE HELP! Any information would be greatly appreciated.Chad M.Mar 25, 2022
Best Answer:Hello! So the vehicle ran without a transponder chip, correct? Perhaps a wire was pinched or a connector wasn't fully seated when you lowered the steering column?
