Will a Malfunctioning sensor stop the flow from the fuel pump? Where is the sensor located?Jonathan Y.Mar 30, 2021
Best Answer:Hi Jonathan, I'm happy to assist you. The vehicle computer uses the camshaft position (CMP) sensor signal to do a number of things from engine timing to control the fuel injectors. Some vehicles determine when to turn on/off the fuel pump with a signal from the CMP sensor signal. So, yes, a faulty sensor can cause what you are experiencing. The camshaft position sensor is always located near the camshaft, often at the top of the valve cover, but it can also be installed from the side of the cylinder head. Check around the head or valve cover and follow any electrical wires and you will for sure find the camshaft position sensor. Please click on the link below to get back to the product page and purchase it as there are only a few units left and take advantage of the price while it is on sale. I'm glad to help you out. Happy shopping. https://www.carparts.com/camshaft-position-sensor/replacement/repc311617?can=cpgg4850
