A Few Tips to Help Lengthen the Service Life of Your Ford F150 Dash Cover
The sun is, unquestionably, harsh on your dashboard. Constant exposure to the scorching heat of the sun makes the UV rays suck life out of your dash, leaving it looking dehydrated and dull, or worse, cracked. With all its benefits, it is but right that you take good care of your Ford F150 dash cover. Here are some ways to help you get more service years out of your existing dash cover:
- Use the appropriate cleaning method for the type of material your dash cover is made of.
Dash covers come in a variety of materials including suede, plastic, carpet, polycarpet, and velour. They are also available in different colors and designs. It is important, however, that you use the cleaning method that's right for the material making up your dash cover. The best way to get rid of crumbs and dust from almost any type of dash cover material is to suck them up using a vacuum. Avoid using chemicals as they can have adverse effects on the dash cover material.
- Spot-clean liquid spills and other dirt that could stain the dash cover.
Stains on the dash cover can be so unsightly, so whenever the unfortunate happens and you spilled some of your coffee or other liquid drink on the dash cover, spot-clean it as soon as you can with warm water to prevent it from staining.
- Avoid parking your truck out in the barking sun or,at least, use a sun shield.

As its name implies, it covers the dashboard not only to conceal scratches and other imperfections that make it look unsightly but also to protect the dash surface from further damage. So the more you use your truck for rugged and heavy duty tasks, the more it becomes deserving of the kind of protection a Ford F150 dash cover can give.
You don’t need a professional to have the dashboard cover installed. Should you wish to install your F150 dash cover all by yourself, here are some tips to help you out:
Tip #1: Lay the dash cover flat overnight prior to the installation.
During storage and shipping, the dash cover, especially those that are made of carpet and suede material, can get wrinkled and creased, and that can affect its fitment over the dash. So prior to installation, it would help if you take the dash cover out of its box and lay it flat overnight. This will give the dash cover material time to relax and will somehow reduce the stiffness of the wrinkles and creases, making them easier to handle during installation.

Tip #3:Test-fit the cover to be sure that it will fit the curves and contours of the dash.
It is also wise to test-fit the cover first to be sure that it’s really shaped to cover the entire surface it’s supposed to conceal. Through this, you’ll also know if it goes well with all the curves and contours of the dash without necessitating modifications. If there are minor creases, the fitment may be slightly affected. But just give your cover time to conform to the dash surface. After a few days, it will just perfectly shape and fit over your dashboard.
