A:BEST ANSWERHi, The repair sleeve is used to cover the area where the end seals ride on the crank. The seal will wear a groove in the crank surface and leak so you install this thin sleeve over the crank and the seal has an even surface to ride on and no longer leaks. While the sleeves works very well for seal surfaces it will do nothing for a knock at low speeds(excerpt from our technical notes). For your 2nd question, for best results, we recommend referring to a trusted vehicle specific repair manual for details aboutthe parts location, troubleshooting, diagnostic, repair and install procedures. Still, it is best to consult your trusted local auto repair shop or dealership for this as well if you need to. You can find more information here as well: https://www.carparts.com/blog/why-you-should-always-consult-a-repair-manual/ Show less
