Coolant Temperature Sensor, Sold Individually
Coolant temperature sensor replacement allows engine to start warm and hot.
It works! My 1998 Chevrolet Metro would not start warm or hot. If the Chevrolet dealership had a decent scan tool I would have imagined that it would have identified that I had a bad coolant temperature sensor. I jacked up the driver side of the Metro to minimize coolant loss. After removing the old sensor, not a drop ran out. I used Permatex high temperature thread sealant on the new sensor. I had the new coolant sensor with the sealant on the threads ready to go prior to removing the old sensor in case my thumb was needed to hold back the coolant. I let the new sensor set up for a day before trying it out. The vehicle now starts cold, warm, or hot. The SERVICE ENGINE SOON light is now on but I think it is just because I added a good sensor.
