2. Listen for unusual noises: A faulty catalytic converter may produce rattling or clunking sounds, especially when the vehicle is idling or accelerating.
3. Check the temperature: Use an infrared thermometer to check the temperature of each catalytic converter. If one of the converters is much hotter or cooler than the others, it may be the one that is not functioning correctly.
4. Perform a visual inspection: Check each catalytic converter for signs of physical damage, such as cracks or dents. Also, check for discoloration, which may indicate that the converter is overheating.
