Choosing the right converter nowadays can be a bit complicated since New Jersey (NJ) is now CARB-compliant. CARB stands for California Air Resources Board, and it is a state agency that was created to help combat air pollution. Moving forward, NJ will be using CARB catalytic converters. However, if your vehicle previously used Federal emissions, it's always best to verify the current requirements with the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission or a qualified mechanic who is knowledgeable about emissions regulations in the state.
