In a Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) engine, it is the exhaust camshaft. In V6 or V8 engines, it is the exhaust cam for bank 1, the cylinder head with number one cylinder.
P054A Code: Cold Start B Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced Bank 1Between the camshafts and their driving sprockets are hydraulic actuators, which are controlled by solenoids that operate control valves. These valves transfer oil pressure to them. The oil pressure alters each camshaft’s angular position (phasing) with respect to the rotation of the crankshaft.
