Returns Policy : 30-Day Return PolicyContrary to its appearance, the bumper cover of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer is actually prone to damage. Scratches, dents, and fading are just some of the problems you will have to deal with the bumper covers, but these can be managed with care and maintenance every now and then. Maintaining the Chevrolet TrailBlazer bumper cover on a regular basis can keep it looking great even with frequent travels and rough driving conditions. To that end, here are some maintenance tips you might find helpful for the bumper covers in your truck:
It's a given that washing the bumper cover will keep it looking brand new, but knowing what cleaning products to use is also important. For starters, use car shampoo or cleaning products that's specially formulated for use in cars, as standard dish soap, detergent, and other common household cleaning products can actually harm the protective clear coating of the bumper. Also, do not use a brush, sponge, or ordinary cloth to wash the bumper as these can leave scratches on the paint. Use a wash mitt or a microfiber cloth instead.
While many car cleaning products boast of having polishing compounds pre-mixed with their solution, it's not as good as actual car wax. Aside from giving the bumper a shinier appearance, car wax can also hide faint scratches on the bumper surface and prevent it from fading. Make sure to apply the wax evenly with a clean microfiber cloth. Even better, use a car buffer as this can leave a better sheen at a shorter period of time.
If reversing and parking in tight spaces is not of your strengths, putting a pair of bumper guards on the ends of the bumpers should keep scratches and dents to a minimum. As its name implies, bumper guards are strips of plastic that wrap around the bumper cover and protect it against scraping or hitting hard objects such as walls and posts. These accessories are more durable and cheaper to replace than the bumpers, with some models even have reflective material to make it more visible at night.
Whether you're replacing a cracked bumper or you are upgrading to a custom set, installing a bumper cover on the Chevrolet TrailBlazer is easy enough for beginners to do. Unlike with their predecessors, replacing a modern Chevrolet TrailBlazer bumper cover only requires wrenches and other tools commonly found in most garages and takes less than a day to accomplish. If you are planning to install a new bumper cover on your Chevrolet TrailBlazer, here are some tips to keep in mind:
Tip #1: Make sure all the hardware is accounted for.
The bumper cover is secured with a series of bolts, clips, and fasteners; if one is missing, the bumper may sag and scrape against the ground. So when removing the old bumper, make sure to take note of each one on the bumper assembly. If you have an aftermarket, refer to the manual that comes with the kit as the cover may not have the same hardware layout compared to an OEM replacement.
Tip #2: Loosen up rusted bolts with penetrating oil.
The bumper cover bolts tend to build up rust over the years, and these can make removing them from the bumper brackets harder than normal. In such instances, do not force the bolts loose, as this can damage the threads. Instead, spray the bolt first with WD-40 or similar penetrating oil products and let it soak for several minutes before trying again. The oil will seep through the gaps and break down the rust enough for you to unscrew it.
Tip #3: Use a string to tie up the bumper absorber.
The bumper's foam absorber, which is sandwiched between the bumper cover and the frame, tends to fall off once the cover is removed and can be quite tricky to hold in place during installation. To prevent this, wrap the absorber with string temporarily while you mount the bumper in place. However, if the absorber is already worn or damaged, have it replaced as well.
Tip #4: Don't forget the wiring.
If your new bumper cover comes with a pair of fog lights and other electronic accessories, make sure that their wires are connected properly. Improperly connected wires will result in malfunctions or even short out your truck's electrical system.
