Step-by-Step Installation

Chapter 1:

Open the hood

Turn off your vehicle’s ignition and set the parking brake.

Chapter 2:

Lift the vehicle

Loosen the stud bolts on the rear wheels. Lift the rear of your vehicle. Place the vehicle on the jack stands. In order to change the rear shocks on your vehicle, you will need to take off the wheels to have full access.

Don’t forget to put the wheels under the vehicle!

Unscrew the shock absorber heads

Brush the shock upper holding screw and spray it with penetrating oil.

Unscrew then the shock upper holding screw with a ratchet and a 15mm socket.

Hold the nut with an 18 mm spanner. Remove the screw.

Unscrew the shock absorber foot

Do the same on the lower holding screw. Remove the screw.

You can now take extract the shock.

Prepare the new shock absorber

Take the new shock. Before installing the new shocks, it is necessary to prime them by pressing the shock vertically, so that the gas and hydraulic fluid are separated.

Install the new shock absorber

Position the shock, and put the upper holding screw in place.

Insert the shock into its lower slot. Then, put the lower holding screw in place.

Screw it back on until it makes contact. Do the same with the top screw.

Finalise the reassembly

In order not to damage the silent blocks, it is necessary to tighten the holding screws with the rear axle in the “vehicle on the ground” position. Presently, the jack stands are positioned on the rear axle, so the shock is the right operating position.

Finish the tightening of the screws with a torque wrench.

Put the vehicle back on the ground

You can now repeat the same process on the other side. Then, you will be able to put the wheels back on your vehicle. Put the car back on the ground and block the wheels properly.
