Kia is marking the end of the Sedona with the arrival of the all-new Carnival. The redesigned (and renamed) minivan is getting updated interior and exterior features and an increase in its starting price, a recent announcement from the automaker confirmed.
Arriving for the 2022 model year, the Kia Carnival boasts of updated styling that gives it an SUV-like appearance. It also comes with an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, while a 12.3-inch screen is available as an option.
However, it will be around $1,700 more expensive than the outgoing Sedona.
In terms of the powertrain, the Carnival will only be available with a front-wheel-drive and a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that marks 290 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.
The base LX model starts selling at $33,275, followed by the EX trim at $38,775. The SX Prestige, which is new for the coming year, tops the range at $42,275.
While the starting price is notably higher for the coming year, the Kia Carnival still beats its segment rivals in affordability. The starting price of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica, for one, is at $36,690, while the 2021 Toyota Sienna sells for $35,635.
The 2022 Kia Carnival is expected to reach dealers in the United States in the second quarter of this year.
