When automakers keep their lips sealed regarding updates on upcoming models, all-new or redesigned, interested buyers head to online forums for news. This is often the case, especially for highly anticipated nameplates such as the Wrangler.
While not all posts shared on these pages turn out to be true, a lot of them actually are. Which is why fans of the upcoming Jeep Wrangler 392 are eager to know if there is truth to claims that the model will get a starting price of $77,055.
In a post shared on the JL Wrangler Forum, a user claims to have information on the retail price of the Wrangler 392. The user, who was checking on his order, said he was notified the vehicle will get the princely price when it arrives.
The user also said that the unconfirmed price of the Wrangler 392 is “pretty close to where [they] thought it would be,” which was also echoed by other users of the forum. Moreover, the original poster said there will only be two other options aside from the 392.
As writing, Jeep has not released any information about the pricing of the model. In fact, representatives of the company said pricing won’t be revealed until early 2021.
Considering other Hemi-equipped vehicles in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ lineup, however, the $70,000 tag does not seem far-fetched. Dodge’s Charger and Challenger Hellcats are within the $60,000 line, while Redeye models are also within the $70,000. The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, on the other hand, costs nearly $90,000 and the Durango SRT Hellcat is also within the same price range.
With the JL-generation Wrangler being newer than any of these models, there could be truth to the forum user’s claims. Despite being less powerful on paper, the Hemi V8 is still capable of producing 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Too, the Wrangler 392 is expected to go from zero to 60 mph in roughly 4.5 seconds and will be more than capable of traversing all kinds of terrain given its Wrangler Rubicon base.
Whatever the final price is, Jeep is expected to make an announcement in the next few months.
