For the 2021 model year, Jeep is carrying over the fourth generation of the Grand Cherokee SUV and plans to release a redesigned version of the model in 2022. When it goes on sale, the 2022 model will be ushered in by the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
The upcoming Grand Cherokee will reportedly have Jeep’s traditional seven-slot grille (albeit slightly slanted forward). Its LED headlights, designed to seamlessly connect on either side, will also be slimmer. Too, it will feature larger openings on the front fascia as well as sleek taillights.
Moreover, the fifth-gen Grand Cherokee will be available with the same powertrain options as the Grand Cherokee L, which will include as standard equipment a 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that makes 290 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque. It will be offered on the lower trim levels and as either rear-, all-, or four-wheel-drive.
A 5.7-liter V-8 making 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque, meanwhile, will be available on its higher trims, the Overland and Summit.
All engine options, Jeep says, will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
A hybrid version of the Grand Cherokee will also be released, but it won’t be available until later.
Jeep shared that the three-row Grand Cherokee L will arrive with hands-free driving features, but it’s not clear whether it will also be offered on the two-row Grand Cherokee.
