As if America needs more proof of how much it loves pickup trucks, particularly the Ford F-150, Automotive News released a report that paints a clearer picture.

In 2018, the average transaction price of an F-150 was $47,174. And according to data released by Kelley Blue Book, Ford sold a total of 909,000 units of the truck, totaling about $43 billion in revenue.

The figures were consistent over the past three years, with the automaker selling an average of 900,000 F-150 units annually. In a year, a total of 2,486 F-150 trucks are sold per day or 103 units per hour, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

The data explains why the coming 14th generation of the F-150 is being drummed up not just by Ford but also by the public, especially considering it’s biggest competitors in the segment were also just released in 2019.

Among the top three best-selling trucks in the United States, the Chevrolet Silverado sold more than 582,000 units per year while Ram averaged 557,000 trucks.

When Ford released the 13th generation of the F-150, all eyes were on the model because it was debuting an all-aluminum exterior that has never been done before.

This time around, the automaker is focusing on the interior features of the truck with the addition of new infotainment screens as well as new luxury features.

“You can basically live in the truck,” someone privy to Ford’s plans said about the upcoming F-150.

Aside from the sleeper seat, future owners of the F-150 will also get over-the-air updates, which is a first for any Ford F-150 generation.

The 2021 Ford F-150 is set to debut this week through a livestream.
