For Americans living in places where it snows, Ford is offering a special package to ease the road burdens brought about by the winter months.
The automaker is releasing 2020 Super Duty trucks with a Snow Plow Prep package. To be clear, though, it does not come with an actual snow plow. Instead, the vehicle is equipped with uprated front springs specific to each truck configuration, as well as a heavy-duty alternator.
“Super Duty is a real workhorse in the snow-removal industry,” Ford F-Series Super Duty Chief Engineer Mike Pruitt said. “With our new Snow Plow Prep Package, we’re really delivering for folks who clear the way after a big storm. Being able to safely hook up bigger plows mean roads, driveways, and parking lots are cleared quickly and drivers can move on to the next job.”
Of course, the new package requires that the 2020 Ford Super Duty trucks has a four-wheel-drive setup. But it’s definitely going to be a treat for customers with additional features such as a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, and windshield wiper de-icer.
In some models equipped with the brand’s 10-speed automatic transmission, a deep-snow-and-sand mode is another option, while other trim levels provide the option of amber and white strobe lights fitted from the factory.
The uprated front springs give the truck the ability to fit 1,400 pounds of snow plow on the front of the vehicle. This is not bad considering that the trucks run on a gasoline engine instead of a diesel engine. But the best feature for customers would have to be that the package only costs $250.
Ford’s 2020 Super Duty trucks have a starting price of less than $40,000 for the entry-level trim and it goes up to as high as $97,000 for a fully-equipped F-450.
