Buick has released the official pricing scheme for its new Buick Encore GX for 2020 and it could be cheaper than the regular Encore, according to a recent report.

The automaker announced earlier this year that it is boosting its lineup with a new addition–the Encore GX–which will be positioned between the Encore and Envision models. The Buick Encore GX measures three inches longer than the standard Encore and comes with a starting price of $25,095, inclusive of the mandatory destination charge. This price puts the new model at just $900 above the regular Encore, which is offered at $24,195.

Aside from the pocket-friendly price, the 2020 Buick Encore GX also offers more cargo space, standard automatic emergency braking, and additional powertrain options. | Source: Buick

But when all the other trim levels of the Encore and Encore GX are compared, the Encore GX appears to be more affordable than its predecessor. For the Preferred trim, the GX has a $500 advantage of the Encore at $25,085 and $25,595, respectively. The Essence trim with a front-wheel-drive, meanwhile, puts the GX at $29,495, while the Encore Essence is $800 more expensive at $30,295.

Aside from being a little more pocket-friendly, though, the Encore GX also has other things to offer such as more cargo space behind the second row, standard automatic emergency braking (versus the Encore’s lane departure warning and forward collision alert, which are only offered on the premium trims), and additional powertrain options.

While the Encore is only offered with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 138 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, Buick is making the Encore GX available with two engine choices: a 155-horsepower 1.3-liter engine mated to a nine-speed automatic, which is optional on the Select and Essence trims and standard with all-wheel-drive variants, as well as a  137-horsepower engine mated to a continuously variable transmission.
