It goes without saying that the one with the best products leads the market, making others share only a portion of the customer base. One such brand that tries to dominate the suspension market is Bilstein. It is known for its high-quality suspension kits for common, racing, and special applications. Its adjustable struts allow you to achieve your desired ride height, the right center of gravity, and the best handling for your car. The next time you need a suspension upgrade or maintenance, going for a Bilstein suspension kit is a good idea. But before buying this product, let us first put it to the test.

We tested this suspension kit on a Porsche Cayman and a Lincoln Navigator, and here is what we have to say:

• The component looked incredibly good. The shocks and struts were made of durable and quality materials. The struts had well-done threads, which would be useful for ride height adjustment. The spring plates and lock nuts were also of quality.
• The feature that allowed setting the suspension from soft to stiff and vice versa was definitely ingenious. It would be helpful when driving either on the street or the track.
• After the installation of the kit, we drove the Cayman and the Navigator in the city and on the highway to check for performance. We set the suspension to stiff first, and with it, we experienced a definitive change in handling, especially when cornering. When we set it to soft ride, comfort was better, which we did not quite have with the first setting.

• When we tuned the suspension to the soft setting, we experienced a noisier ride. The rear of the Cayman and the Navigator bounced infrequently, and we were unsure if that was due to the difference in spring rates. We also lapped the cars on the highway and noticed that both ran slower by a few milliseconds than with the stock suspension units.
• The kit did not come with installation instructions that could have made our life easier.
• This product is really pricey, and you need to call the manufacturer to inquire about the warranty.

Unless you want to have a configurable suspension system for your car, you really do not need this kind of kit. However, this product is a good one if you want a stiffer ride, but you have to expect for a decrease in ride comfort. You just need to give something to get something. Stock suspension parts would be better if you were only a common driver, not only price-wise, but also for the hassle you would be saved in readjusting the settings of your suspension.
