Touring vehicles won’t be that functional without a roof rack. Come to think of it—where will you put those bulky gears of yours that are just too difficult to fit inside the vehicle’s cabin? The roof rack will help save much of your interior space and will allow you to travel comfortably by accommodating most of your large cargos. It is usually designed to support the vehicle’s full rated load capacity.
While the roof rack’s usefulness can’t be questioned, most of us are having trouble in choosing the unit that’s right for our ride and our needs. That’s where we can be of help to you. Our ride is fitted with an ARB roof rack—the steel cab type—and we’re more than willing to share with you our experience with this product.

What’s cool?
- The brand’s unique mounting system is very impressive as it doesn’t just attach the roof rack to the vehicle but also ensures proper load distribution, by allowing the full-length, PVC protected galvanized support channel to evenly distribute the weight along the full length of the vehicle gutter. This mounting system, though very secure, allows easy installation and removal of the ARB cargo roof rack.
- We love the fact that this roof rack does more than just securing our loads—its unique wind deflection panel considerably reduces interior noise when we’re driving at highway speeds.
- The steel rack’s many layers of zinc-rich coating and powder coating makes us confident that it is 100% corrosion resistant and no amount of rain will be able to promote rust formation as long as the steel part isn’t exposed.
What’s not cool?
- This heavy-duty, high-quality roof rack from ARB doesn’t come cheap, but for off-roaders and drivers like us who love to take our families to long-distance travels and adventures, the price wasn’t big of an issue as long as the product will serve us well and will last long in service.
What’s our final thought?
We honestly think that this ARB roof rack deserves two thumbs up for not just living up to our expectations but for giving us so much more than expected! Almost everything about this product, save for the price, is impressive.
