When you’re going for long distance travel on scorching summer months, it is always ideal if you can find a way to keep your beverages and food frozen or chilled. What a better way to do that than to bring with you a refrigerator! We are actually doing that for several times now with an ARB refrigerator, specifically the brand’s 47L portable fridge freezer. Let’s see if this fridge is up to scratch.

- We love the fact that it is 100% CFC free, so we’re sure that it won’t harm the environment while satisfying our need for cold, refreshing drinks during a tiring, long drive on a hot day.
- It has been with us for just a few months, so it may be too early for us to gauge its durability. But at the rate things are going, it seems that this fridge won’t fail anytime soon.
- Besides its sturdy construction, its compressor impresses us with how fast it cools down to our needed temperature.
Two thumbs up
- It’s great that this fridge comes with a reversible basket with divider, which allowed us to separate the fridge contents. Because of this, we were able to position longer items along the length of the cabinet, helping us save precious fridge storage space and have room for more items.
- It’s also wise that the refrigerator’s internal cabinet has separate compartments for dairy and fruit, so things don’t get mixed up inside the fridge even if the ride becomes bumpy.
Thumbs down
- It would be great if the transit bag would be part of the package or just given as freebie rather than an option as we find it really helpful especially when the fridge is placed on the luggage compartment, along with other cargos and camping gears. We use the bag to protect the walls of the fridge from getting scratched or dented.
The bottom line
This fridge proved to be the best value there is for our money. We are amazed by its simple yet very helpful features particularly the control panel, recessed handles, internal cabinet, and compressor. This is such a great investment for campers, off-roaders, and even for families and groups of friends who love to go on a long distance trip or to explore the great outdoors during holidays and weekends.
