Customer Guides

AEM has become one of the leading brands when it comes to aftermarket performance parts. And one of its best selling products is the AEM fuel filter. Available in various direct-fit configurations for most vehicle models, this fuel filter is guaranteed to offer superior filtering performance and a long service life. We managed to get a hold of several AEM filters and put them on a test run in our vehicles to determine if AEM can back up its claims.

Features:

  • For vehicles with engines capable of up to 500 horsepower
  • Large hexes machined into top and bottom
  • Thread sizes for filter are 12x1.25 top and 14x1.50 bottom for fittings
  • O-ring seals
  • Uses standard high flow replacement filter
  • Manufactured and assembled in the USA
  • Limited AEM warranty

The upside:

  • Easy to install. We really appreciated the extra large hexes as they make it easy to remove and reassemble. You also do not need a lot of tools to install this filter in place; although if you plan on using the filter as a floating application, you will need additional parts.
  • Exceptional construction. The housing is made of 606 aluminum body, which gives the right balance of weight and durability. The O-ring seals of the filter also provide excellent protection against oil leaks as well as prevent contaminants from getting inside, which is quite helpful if you have had past problems with fuel contamination in the past.

The downside:

  • The filter is a bit too large for most models. The filter is bigger than a standard OEM filter and may need a bracket in order to support and balance the weight properly.
  • A bit pricey. AEM fuel filters can have a price tag of $100 and up, which may be a bit much if you are just looking to replace a dodgy filter. However, if you are looking for a filter with performance in mind, the cost of the fuel filters are relatively at par with other aftermarket filters available today.

The bottom line:

The AEM fuel filter is an excellent choice if you are looking for a highly efficient performance filter. But even if you are just looking for a simple replacement filter, AEM filter is still a viable contender because of its superior durability and user-friendly construction. It’s definitely something that you would not regret buying.
