Customer Reviews

Ignition Switch
Perfect repair for 98 Maxima that failed to engage solenoid and wouldn't start.
1998 Maxima was experiencing difficult start. (turn key got "nothing", starter solenoid was silent.) Sometimes I had to turn the key a couple times to get it to start; one day, it failed to start on repeated attempts (key turns), when it did finally engage solenoid it started up as it should so I drove it home and ordered this ignition switch (best price.) I pulled the old ignition switch from the lock mechanism and left it dangling from its connector. After putting electrical tape across the contacts on the back of the switch, I was able to start the car with a screwdriver turning the switch. Installation was simple, although an offset ratcheting screwdriver is helpful to secure it in the key lock. Starts first time, every time now -- 3 weeks later. FYI: I read a note on a Maxima forum that said "if you don't have a spare ignition switch, get one" ... good advice, especially for 10 bucks.
