The unit fit in place as described in the instructions. None of the trim needed to be modified on my truck, I guess it is required for some. Two holes needed to be enlarged with a drill just as explained in the instructions and that was no problem. The only problem I ran into was that the oval shaped access holes in the truck frame were so small that the mounting hardware would not fit through them. I used a die grinder to enlarge the access hole so that I could fish the hardware into the proper mounting position. The truck in my case is a 1999 Ranger American made ( not Canada). The extra work was/is well worth the end result.
