Toyota’s Racing Development division ventured into the production of a sports sedan version of the 2020 Toyota Camry and the public’s response is generally positive.
Priced at $32,125, the arguably best-looking Camry in the market is even $4,000 cheaper than the V-6-powered XSE. It’s no wonder the model is selling fast and prompted the Japanese automaker to announce that only 6,000 units of the model will be produced for every model year.
Based on this production volume, individual dealers are said to get only around four to five units of the sports sedan each year.
Toyota further shared that the TRDs are selling twice as quickly as the four-cylinder Camry SE, which the company produces 100,000 units yearly. For comparison, Toyota sold a total of 336,978 Camrys in 2019 alone.
The 2020 Toyota Camry TRD is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that makes 301 horsepower and is the same engine that runs the XLE and XSE trims. It also comes with aero, black TRD wheels, a rear wing, and a sport exhaust system.
Moreover, there is an option to get a TRD model with the eye-catching Supersonic Red paint job, although the automaker said that variant is the hardest to find.
