Toyota has a reason to celebrate as its well-loved RAV4 SUV breaks into 10-million sale territory.

The model, which has been a huge global success for the Japanese automaker since its official launch in 1994, has found homes in over 10 million customers around the world.

Toyota recently shared the achievement after cumulative global sales showed that the RAV4 has passed the elite 10 million mark as of the end of February 2020.

Toyota announced it is working on the release of the RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid.

An annual sales chart shows that RAV4’s sales grew each year it was in production, except in 2008 and 2011. This year, however, remains a big question mark as  Toyota, along with other automakers, faces the effects of the coronaviruson the automotive industry.

The Japanese car manufacturer previously announced it is working on the release of the RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid, as the RAV4 Hybrid continues to gain popularity on the market. The new model is expected to be fuel-efficient and will be the sportiest RAV4 across the lineup. Next to the Supra, it is also going to be the only other Toyota vehicle that will sprint from 0-6 mph.
