Dodge is known for its muscle cars and FCA has built a reputation for adding a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine to just about any model in its growing Hellcat-powered lineup: the Challenger Hellcat, the Charger Hellcat, and even the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat.

But if there is one thing missing from this group, it’s a seven-seater SUV powered by the same engine.

Well, not anymore.

FCA has introduced the new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat for the 2021 model year, which, according to the automaker, will only be available for one year.

The Durango SRT Hellcat is powered by the same 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V-8 that delivers up to 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a four-wheel-drive setup paired to Torqueflite 8HP95 eight-speed automatic transmission.

Based on Dodge’s claims, the 2021 SRT Hellcat goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and has an NHRA-certified quarter-mile time of 11.6 seconds plus a 180 mph maximum speed. These numbers have not been proven so far, although the zero-to-60-mph in 3.5 seconds seems likely given the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s 3.4 seconds.

On top of the powerful engine, the exclusive Durango variant also lets go of its fog lights to make room for two cold air intakes. The intake located on the driver’s side is responsible for feeding the revised engine oil cooler, while the one on the passenger side feeds straight into the engine air intake.

The Durango SRT Hellcat will be available for only a year as the SUV, according to FCA, will not meet emissions requirements for its segment come 2022. However, FCA clarified it will continue to roll out Dodge Hellcat models for other segments as long as there is demand.

Orders for the new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat are set to begin this fall with deliveries scheduled for 2021.
