At least three Subaru SUVs are getting a new Wilderness package, giving the vehicles better off-road capability and making them more competitive in the segment. The list includes the Forester, Crosstrek, and Outback station wagon, which will be the first to get the upgrade.
Among the features customers can look forward to in the Wilderness package are suspension upgrades, higher ground clearance, and a set of black six-spoke wheels. There will also be LED fog lights, bright-colored accents and badging, as well as a blacked-out trim, all contributing to a rugged appearance.
The special package is expected to come to higher trim levels of the Subaru Outback, possibly those powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four that makes 260 horsepower.
As with most Subaru models, all-wheel-drive is standard, while the base model is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine churning up to 182 horsepower.
Subaru is expected to release more information on the off-road package in the coming months ahead of its release by the end of the year.
