Ford may have won the truck segment with the success of the F-150 in the United States, but it can’t continue relying on a single product. It needs help from other models to sustain its decades-long momentum of lording it over the market. For this reason, the automaker continues to work on improving its truck lineup.

For the coming months, the Blue Oval is expected to debut the new-generation F-150 pickup as well as its Raptor and electric variants. Soon to follow will be a compact pickup dubbed as the Maverick. Then it’s the Ranger mid-size pickup’s turn, and based on recent spy photos, it looks like the truck is ready for a promising arrival.

The upcoming Ranger is slotted to compete with segment competitors such as the Jeep Gladiator and Toyota Tacoma. But what could be more exciting for customers is that Ford is also reportedly bringing the Ranger Raptor variant in the US.

The new Ford Ranger is expected to make its official launch by the end of 2021 and go on sale in the US in early 2022 with a starting price of around $30,000. | Source: Car and Driver

The 2022 Ford Ranger pickup will likely keep its turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes up to 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With the optional tow package, it can deliver a tow rating of 7,500 pounds. Its Raptor variant, on the other hand, is expected to boast a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V-6 that makes 310 horsepower, the same engine powering the 2021 Bronco SUV.

Other improvements customers can look forward to include upgrades in the interior details such as a larger touchscreen with Ford’s Sync 4 infotainment system.
