A mid-cycle refresh is due for Ford’s full-size SUVs and spy photos of the revamped Expedition are all over the internet. The pictures confirm that a new infotainment system is on its way to the model.
The Ford Expedition’s current 8.0-inch infotainment screen will be upgraded to the 15.5-inch setup akin to the Mustang Mach-E. It will be the first Ford model to get the same Sync 4 infotainment system that comes with over-the-air updates. The system features a single knob at the bottom of the screen and four extra buttons for the Expedition.
Other photos showing the exterior of the Expedition also reveal the SUV sporting all-terrain tires and possibly even a skid plate. It will also likely get a more rugged treatment similar to the Explorer which, based on previous reports, is believed to be called the Timberline. This new trim may be added to the Expedition range as well.
In terms of mechanical changes, though, the Expedition Timberline won’t be getting a lot save for an extra suspension lift from the current 9.8 inches.
More details about the 2022 Ford Explorer are expected to come months ahead of its expected debut sometime this year.
