Customers looking to get a diesel-powered Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or GMC Sierra can now save as much as $1,500 off the price tag as General Motors recently announced price cuts on the two models.

This puts the diesel premium to only $5,200 compared to the previous $6,700 rate. It still isn’t the cheapest, but it’s definitely an improvement.

The GMC Sierra, as well as the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, is now cheaper by $1500.

The two half-ton pickup trucks are known for having great fuel economy despite their size. The models are rated at 23 miles per gallon in city driving, 33 mpg on the highway for a two-wheel-drive variant, while a model with the four-wheel-drive layout registers 23 miles per gallon in city driving, 29 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined.

These are good numbers for drivers with regular towing needs and is known to be where the two pickup models excel at. The 3.0-liter engine is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission and both vehicles are available at U.S. dealerships.
