Honda won’t be debuting the new Civic sedan until next year, but the model has been the subject of news reports lately, thanks to leaked images revealing its appearance.
Previously, exterior images of the vehicle’s sedan and hatchback variants circulated online. Now, photos of its interiors have surfaced as well.
The images, which are reportedly from the automaker’s trademark filings with the Australian government, show a slightly deconstructed dashboard in grayscale.
Most notable in the Civic’s reworked dashboard is the new instrument panel layout. Based on the images, the infotainment system sits on the top row, while something that looks like an opening for a speaker is placed right behind it. Underneath the infotainment screen is the HVAC vents that appear to be clumped together with the climate controls and other infotainment buttons.
There is also a huge opening believed to house the storage area, the gear selector, and the USB charging ports.
Judging by the photos, the 2022 Honda Civic’s interior looks a bit muted compared to its predecessor with more straight lines and narrower vents, which are neatly placed in a row. With the infotainment screen now placed on the upper portion of the dashboard, it also creates a cleaner overall look.
The upcoming generation of the Honda Civic is expected to debut in the spring of 2021 before it goes on sale as a 2022 model. However, unlike previous generations of the model, a coupe variant will not be included in the lineup.
According to the Honda’s timeline, the first models to arrive are the sedan and hatchback, to be followed by the Si and Type R variants.
