Ram is updating the 2020 Heavy Duty with new features in a move to get closer to rivals 2020 GMC Sierra HD and Chevrolet Silverado HD.

Both GMC and Chevrolet have equipped their biggest trucks with sophisticated camera systems. The Sierra has the Pro Grade Trailering suite that provides 21 different camera views, including a view of the road behind the trailer and a view of the trailer’s interior.

The 2020 Ram 2500 is reportedly getting a blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, lane keep assist with Adaptive Steering, and trailer tire pressure monitoring other than the new camera technology.

For the next-generation Heavy Duty, Ram is introducing two accessory cameras to be mounted on the trailer whose footage can be accessed by the driver using the truck’s Uconnect infotainment display. The addition of new cameras somehow levels the playing field for the leading trucks on the market and puts the Ram Heavy Duty in a better position to compete with its rivals, at least in the accessory department.

The 2020 Ram 2500 and 3500, meanwhile, will also get a blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, lane keep assist with Adaptive Steering, as well as trailer tire pressure monitoring other than the new camera technology. These are in addition to the 50-gallon fuel tank that is now offered as a standard on all crew cab configurations with the 8-foot bed.

Ram will also start offering new colors for the 2020 Heavy Duty in Hydro Blue and Olive Green. The Power Wagon will have black wheels, while the Night Edition package will be available on the Laramie add Big Horn variants. The Night Edition package also includes a blacked-out badging, and an all-black interior, and black 20-inch wheels.

Joining the upgrade bandwagon is the 2020 Ram 1500, which will also be offered with a Night Edition package that features 20- and 22-inch wheels on top of the new EcoDiesel powertrain.
