Ram has finally released the official pricing for the upcoming 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel truck.
One of the leading brands in the pickup truck segment, Ram is taking competition to a new level by bringing back the EcoDiesel engine for the new generation of its well-loved truck. And for the first time, the diesel engine will be offered across all trim levels and configurations, including the Ram Rebel.
The EcoDiesel comes in the form of a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 that makes 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. This gives the Ram 1500 the highest towing capacity (12,560 lbs) out of all the half-ton diesel trucks in the market. Its biggest rival, the Ford F-150 diesel, offers 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft with a maximum towing capacity of 11,400 lbs, while the General Motors’ twin trucks makes 277n horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Ahead of the new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel’s release, the company has released the official pricing for the truck for all trims. It has a starting price of $36,890 and a destination charge of $1,695. With the price tag, Ram sits below the least expensive diesel-powered Silverado that goes for a little over $42,000 and the F-150, which is priced at approximately $47,000.
The most affordable Ram EcoDiesel is the Tradesman Quad Cab 2WD, where the automaker offers the engine as a premium option worth $4,995. Consumers who are not willing to shell out as much,
however, still have the option to go with the cheaper 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with e-torque for $3,000.
In addition to the 2020 Ram 1500, the brand will also be offering the EcoDiesel engine on the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic, which sells for $39,140 with the CrewCab 4×2.
Ram has not released fuel economy ratings for the EcoDiesel yet, but they are expected to come out later this year.
