Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is not giving up its title as the king of special edition cars with yet another one-of-a-kind release–Built to Serve Edition Ram trucks to honor members of the United States military.

The new special edition trucks follow several other unique releases from the company including Ram 1500 Night Editions and Limited Black Edition, as well as the Stars & Stripes Editions of the Dodge Charger and Challenger.

Asked why it seems to have taken a liking to releasing several special edition models every year, FCA says it wants every customer to feel special even if they can’t afford premium models like the Hellcat. And this time around, it’s Ram’s turn to pay homage to the United States military with the Built to Serve Edition trucks.

The special edition trucks are based on the Ram 1500 and honors the five service branches of the United States Armed Forces with several color choices named after military terms. FCA will be releasing 1,000 units each of the Gator, Diamond Black, Ceramic Gray, Patriot Blue, Anvil, Billet Silver, Tank. Flame Red, and Spitfire variants, while 500 units of the Bright White will also be available.

“Ram wants to honor those who are serving or have served the United states with distinction,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. “For Ram truck owners–whether military or civilian–’Built to Serve’ is a maxim that they can be proud to stand behind. We also want to bring together Ram owners who are not currently serving to make a difference in their communities.

“We launched our Ram Nation volunteer organization in 2015 as a way to give our Ram truck owners a way to be involved when there’s a need,” he added.

Aside from the unique colors, the Built to Serve trucks also have distinct design options including a US flag and Built to Serve decals on the rear quarter panels. 20-inch wheels with a Technical Gray finish are also due to be added, as well as body-colored wheel flares. For the truck’s interior, each of the five branches are represented by different colors such as Light Frost, Light Ambassador Blue, Light Diesel Gray, Core Green, and Orange.

According to Ram, the new edition trucks will be available on all body styles and powertrains. It will also include 4×4 Off-Road Group features including all-terrain tires, electronic-locking rear axle, hill-descent control, front suspension skid plate, steering gear skid plate, fuel tank skid plate, transfer case skid plate, tow hooks, and heavy-duty off-road-calibrated front and rear shock absorbers.

Pricing is not yet available as of writing but the Built to Serve Edition is expected to be an affordable add-on to the standard Ram 1500.
