Ram has given the green light on the production of the Rebel TRX for a potential 2021 model year release. The model is expected to be the highest-performance version of the Ram 1500 lineup with its rumored 575-horsepower Hemi V-8 engine.

The Ram Rebel TRX was first introduced by the automaker as a concept car at the 2016 State Fair of Texas. It initially boasted custom-built coilovers with 13 inches of travel, 6 inches of additional track width, as well as 37-inch tires.

Three years later, the company has since debuted the new Ram 1500 whose platform is also predicted to be the same one that will be used for the Rebel TRX instead of the old framework revealed in 2016. This means the upcoming model can also enjoy the 1500’s well-designed interior, ride quality, and remarkable chassis stiffness.

Other than the platform, the Ram Rebel TRX is, however, likely not going to share the same standard 575-horsepower Hellcat-based engine. Instead, the model could get the 5.7-liter eTorque Hemi V 8 engine, while the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V-8 engine becomes optional.

But if Ram wants to give the Rebel TRX a competitive edge, especially over the Ford F-150 Raptor, the brand’s best bet would be to work on suspension and give the truck at least 13.5 inches of front and 14 inches of rear suspension travel.

Ram has not released any information on the release date of the Rebel TRX, much less details on the truck’s specifications. Nevertheless, it is seen as the first legitimate competitor of the F-150 Raptor, particularly when it comes to high-speed desert off-roading.
