Kia has released the official pricing for the redesigned K5 sedan, formerly known as the Optima.
For the coming model year, the Korean automaker is introducing a somewhat new model in the form of the K5 as it will be the first time for the model to carry the new alphanumeric nameplate, following Kia’s decision to optimize its naming system earlier this year.
The sedan’s base LX trim with a front-wheel-drive gets a starting price of $24,455, just a little over $300 more than the base price of its predecessor. The LXS model follows with a base price of $25,455, then the GT-Line variant at $26,355. The EX picks up a price tag of $28,955, while the range-topping GT model retails for $31,455.
Both the GT-Line and EX models will be offered with premium packages that include advanced driver-assist technology and model-specific interior and exterior upgrades. The optional add-on costs an additional $1,600 for the GT-Line and $3,400 for the EX.
All variants will be equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four engine that delivers up to 180 horsepower and 1495 lb-ft of torque. The powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with EPA estimates of 29/38/32 mpg for city, highway, and combined.
Kia will also launch the K5 in all-wheel-drive format but only for the LXS and GT-Line trims. The LXS AWD gets a price tag of $27,555, about $2,100 higher than the front-wheel-drive variant. The GT-Line AWD, meanwhile, goes up by $3,700 with a price tag of $30,055.
A GT-Line AWD Special Edition package will also be offered for an extra $800. This gets buyers a panoramic sunroof, gloss-black trim, and Wolf Gray exterior paint.
A GT model is also set to arrive, powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four engine that makes 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. It gets a starting price of $31,455 and reportedly goes from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. Its engine will be paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Kia’s GT1 package can be added to the GT variant, giving it a 10.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a heated steering wheel, LED headlights, and Bose premium audio among other features.
The US-spec 2021 Kia K5 is due to arrive this summer except for the GT model that follows in the fall.
