Coming as an electric truck for the 2022 model year, the new Hummer is packed with a bevy of accessories and capabilities that make it a formidable off-road machine.
On top of the list of its monster features is the three-motor, four-wheel-drive system designed with a locking front differential, which is expected to deliver up to 1,000 horsepower and at least 1,000 lb-ft of torque.
The truck also features an adaptive air suspension that gives it up to six inches of height, as well as various driving modes such as Ingress/Egress, Normal, Terrain, Extract, and the highly talked about Crab mode that allows it to move diagonally at low speeds. The Hill Descent Control feature, meanwhile, makes one-pedal driving possible for the vehicle.
The upcoming Hummer, aptly dubbed Edition 1, comes with 35-inch tires as standard equipment, but customers have the option to get the 37-inch Goodyear Wrangler All Territory Mud- Terrain tires off the dealership. Moreover, steel skid plates are added to protect its large battery pack during off-roading.
The truck is also equipped with the UltraVision tech, which gives drivers up to 18 different views of the road, and two underbody cameras that point forward and backward. The cameras come with protective lenses and a washer for added safety.
GMC is expected to release additional details on the Hummer EV’s torque output, tire pressure, differential-lock engagement, pitch and roll angles, as well as available widgets on the 13.4-inch infotainment screen, in the coming months.
